"I first met Bob at his workplace in the 1980's. I was convinced that I had met an extraordinary person and an exceptional colleague. At the same time, it also was my first contact with the multi-joint training systems.
In the following years there was a lot of contact. The multi-joint training and principles was brought to Germany and over the years we also created some projects together.
In this context, I first of all want to mention Brigitta Flatau, who, together with Bob, has accomplished incredible work to implement the system in the field of rehabilitation and training and publishing. We built up seminars and workshops to make the multi-joint training known which we implemented in Germany. In addition in the 1990's, together with Hartmut Binkoski, the program was implemented in seminars, and the educational system of the German Federation For Sports Therapy and Health-related Sports.
I also want to mention a three-year project with Norwegian cross-country skiers, in which the multi-joint training and technique, together with recreational aspects, were central subjects. Together with the head coach, Arild Jrgensen, Bob did an incredible job with technique training and drills, without any snow! Although, for Bob the first time working under snow conditions, the results were excellent! In the group of cross-country skiers, there were World Olympic Champions. One of them, Pal Gunnar Mikkelsplass, was the coach of Therese Johnaug. She was the best woman, in cross country skiing in the world. This is a great, but almost unknown story, in which Bob and his multi-joint concept was an important part, and with great, lasting effect!
I want to thank Bob for over 30 years of friendship and for the great job he has done to make the multi-joint training concept accepted in European sports science, training, and therapy.

"Words fail when I'm asked to describe Bob Narcessian and, yes, I still talk about him regularly. I always default to saying: He's the first true genius I even met. I usually follow that statement with the longstanding belief I carry that Bob has an xyz axis in his vision field. Most people don't understand what I mean by that, but 36 years later, I appreciate that concept even more deeply than I did initially.
I once interviewed a rabbi and we talked about whether it was possible for people to change. He told me that you can't depart from a place you've never been. And that immediately made me think of Bob and how he worked with people.
Before we started any drill or remediation, Bob taught me to look at people before they moved. How did they set themselves up? You couldn't expect someone to run in a forward-and-up patter, if they were set up to run forward-and-down. While that may sound like only one example of Bob's impact on me, this concept sets the premise for everything." Bob Narcessian gifted me a framework for life."

"When I was asked who had the most influence in my professional life there is a clear answer: it's Bob Narcessian
Why? To optimize movements or to treat patients one would typically say that physiology, sports medicine etc. is all you need. But the important thing I've learned from Bob is that biomechanics (leverage, multi-joint movements) makes the real difference! During my work with Bob at JFK Hospital, I learned and applied his concepts.
After moving back to Germany, I have been using Bob's concepts successfully for more than 30 years. Working together giving lectures, doing workshops, and publications in the German Association for Health Sports and Sports Therapy (DVGS), Bob's methods have become well known in Germany.
More than 15,000 clients and patients have benefited from Bob's methods in my health center, Medi Train, over the past 20 years. Our entire team, consisting of more than 20 therapists believe in his concepts! We use them in prevention, rehabilitation and occupational health."

"I can remember sitting outside the research lab at Kessler when I first met Bob. It must have been almost 25 years ago. I was thinking to myself, "Boy this guy really knows his stuff about exercise!" I want to thank Bob for all his insights he has given me as it relates to training."

Kerry Murphy
Physical therapist

"I learned and applied Bob's approach to human motion while at JFK in an interdisciplinary setting. I have carried Bob's approach into my daily practice as a physical therapist, including his spirit of "treat the person as you would a family member." Because of this, I am able to assess and treat more types of injuries more effectively and with more confidence. Working with Bob are high points of my forty-year career as a physical therapist. "

"It was May 1995 when I heard for the first time from Brigitta about Bob and his multi-joint concepts. I was very impressed by this method. From this time on it influenced my professional work in therapy as well as my personal daily movement. Theoretical expressions like momentum, fulcrum, unloading, initial position, etc. were becoming clear, especially in connection with Bobs course in Waldenburg, Germany in 1996. I realized that what I learned from Bob is the fundamental basis of how human movement works.
Bob's scientific publication is now another stop to making this very important topic more public. I hope more will follow."

"Bob can break down the element of a single human movement and explain the physics and forces involved to the point where you can actually see dotted lines in your mind's eye mapping the way to successful execution. Bob is one of the great natural teachers and he strives determinedly to convey his understanding of how things work to others. It is critical to him to bring you along with his messaging. "

"When I first worked with Bob through Janet, I was 18 years old and was suffering from my second tibial stress fracture. As a D1 athlete, my coach had asked me to continue running on the injury, both a devastating and dangerous request. By this time in my life, I had been running competitively for 9 years, and running was all I knew. Not only was it my favorite sport, running helped me grow into the young adult that I was. It empowered me and gave me the confidence to be myself. I was beside myself, trying to understand how I'd go on without running.
With the help of Janet, I quit the team and was on the road to recovery. She connected me to Bob, who changed my running career and life. Without Bob and his methodology, I know that my running career would have ended back in 2008. But through the drills and seemingly simple tasks, I learned my body's natural preferences for movement and slowly recovered stronger than ever.
12 years after meeting Bob, I'm happy to report that I's on my 21st year of running and have completed 8 marathons/ultras (including Boston). Bob changed my running life along with so many others. The impact made is immense. "

"Bob taught me the biggest and most valuable life lesson: No matter how complex or confusing an issue presents itself, the solution can always be found by going back to investigate and understand the "Basic Components." This thought process has served me well in both my professional and personal life."

"Bob changed the way I look and think about motion. I use his exercises, protocols, and drills for myself and to teach clients. When I see new exercises, I always ask myself, "What would Bob think about this exercise?" or "How would Bob teach it?" Your publication is long overdue and I wish you continued success in the future."

"I was twelve years young when I was told I shouldn't run, the opinion of multiple medical professionals I had sought out to help me resolve my plague of injures from running. When everyone had given up on me and physical therapy was just slapping an ice pack on some serious biomechanical and structural issue, I found Janet. Janet was the crazy, out of the box thinker who eventually conditioned me to run again, without NO knee braces, orthotics, and most importantly without PAIN! I was fortunate enough to be headed into high school around this time where I would begin to learn the physiology, math and eventually physics to help me better understand and even question some of the ideas Janet was sharing with me. I knew it worked for me and I wanted to share that understanding with others so Janet offered me a position. I jumped at the opportunity.
That was when I learned that Janet was taught by her own unconventional coach back in New Jersey. I listened to Janet's stories about Bob and the training he put her through. One story in particular captured my fascination. Bob had conditioned Janet through squat workouts and accurately predicted her 5km race time within a few seconds from those workouts. Being a high school athlete myself I was motivated to produce these same results in my final track season. But, it was a long shot. I was only seventeen and had only ever talked to Bob over skype in group meetings about data collection for his and Janet's paper. I wasn't deterred and set out to replicate his results with Janet, by using the skills I had picked up in my math and physics classes. I designed a four-month squat regimen and followed it religiously during my final semester of high school. It was a crisp Saturday morning. I toed the line knowing I had just done the work to complete the 2-mile race in under 10 minutes last week. Lap by lap I checked my splits mentally to make sure I was on track. I rounded the last corner and locked my gaze on the clock, watching it mercilessly tick upward, until i crossed the finish line in 9 minutes and 55 seconds. I had done it! I had run 2 miles in less than 10 min, and I knew it was from the squat workouts. It took me a few days to come down form the high and realize it wasn't magic. What Janet and Bob had taught me was completely achievable for anyone. This fueled my passion for understanding human movement and ultimately drove me to pursue studies in physiology and physics while at university.
Today I have my doctorate in Comparative Physiology, something I attribute to my early education and being asked to think critically about human movement with Bob and Janet. I also continue to run, more than twelve years after I was originally encouraged to give it up. Last year I actually won my first road race! Not to mention all the hundreds of people I've met and helped to improve their health through biomechanics.
I can't predict the future or where I will be in a few years, but Bob and Janet instilled a passion in me that has continued to light my path for over a decade. I will continue to advocate and help to advance the work where I can to benefit as many people as possible, because no one deserves to have their passion ripped from them at twelve."
